- Entry fee: $15
- 3 rounds
- Battle Scoring: A player will receive 5 points for a win, 3 points for a tie, or 1 point for a loss each game. In addition, each player will choose their own personal objective each game, which will be worth 1 point.
- Paint Scoring: There is no painting requirement for the event. All models must adhere to WYSIWYG, and should represent the wargear they are carrying. "Counts-as" armies are welcome, but should adhere to WYSIWYG as well. Any questions regarding this may be sent to Jason at: indy40k {at} gmail {dot} com. Painting will be scored according to the Rogue Trader checklist by GW (I'm sorry, but I don't have the link for where you can find this). In addition, the players will select their favorite armies to award additional appearance points.
- Sportsmanship: Players will nominate their favorite opponents to receive prizes based on how pleasant they were to play against.
- Overall: Each of the above-mentioned categories will be awarded prizes. Additionally, the scores will be combined, and the players with the highest overall scores will receive separate prizes, similar to the "Renaissance Man" award at the NOVA Open.
- Additional prizes will be given out randomly, the amount of which will be determined by the number of entrants.

ReplyDeleteThe Magic event will be in the store. The 40k tournament will be in the vacant space next door. It comfortably holds 12-13 tables.

Best general, best painted, best sportsman, and best overall will be awarded. I've got enough people signed up that I'll be able to award the top 2 or 3 in each category as long as everyone who signed up shows up.

Additionally, everyone will go home with something. I've arranged something with the Game Preserve where every player will get a sort of "thank you" gift for attending.

ReplyDelete@Metrosh: I didnt send out verification emails since I don't anticipate having a shortage of space. 15 people have indicated that they would be there. I have enough tables and I can get prize support for up to 30 players, but I prefer to run a smaller event. Having said that, I don't want to turn anyone away who wants to play.
ReplyDeleteFor our annual event, I try to get players to prepay so that I can give my sponsors a good idea of attendance so I can get the most prize support possible. For these smaller events, it's just the Game Preserve sponsoring us, and they're very close by in case more prize support is needed :)
Right, I sent an email last month. I haven't prepaid because I didn't know who to pay. I asked at GP if they knew anything about it and they told me they did not. Thus my conundrum =P
ReplyDelete@Metrosh: Sorry for the lack of communication. The guys at the GP generally don't have much interest in the 40k events there. That's why they are happy to have others running events there. I run all the events separate from the GP so that I can closely control what happens and where the money gets spent, to (hopefully) result in the best possible event.
