this week on the blogs

As short as last week's list was, this week's list is very long.  There was a lot going on this week.

Ron shows us a tutorial on wet blending.  I especially like that he talks about the appropriate times for wet blending, and that is not the be-all end-all of painting techniques.

We saw several people posting their test games with the new Grey Knights Codex.  Each one of these gave some good insight as to the potential of this new army:
Dave_G from Wargaming Tradecraft has several good posts:
b.smoove posted some WIP shots of his awesome-looking tables he's building for Adepticon.

Drathmere continues his very nice Blood Angels army with a squad of Forge World marines in different mks of armour.

Lamenter from Master of the Forge shows his finished artscale Terminator Librarian.

Old School Terminator talks about list building and starting a good army.

Some chapter badges

I spent some time this weekend working on some chapter badges for my Project Space Marine.

In the center is the Howling Griffons Sergeant.  Clockwise from the upper-left are the Iron Lords, Heralds of Ultramar, White Templars and the Angels of Vengeance.

this week on the blogs

Since Ron has placed From The Warp into stasis, I assume that many other bloggers are not getting the same traffic that they once were.  I wanted to try to help out by drawing attention to some of the things that caught my eye in the past week.

Nick from 2nd City Warzone has been chipping away at his Angels of Absolution army for years now, and adds a Rhino to the mix.  I was fortunate enough to play against him at the last Chicago GT (back in 06-07?).   The army looks much better than these photos portray.

Drathmere finishes his great-looking Blood Angels Terminator Assault Squad.  I really like the blending that he was able to get on his characters with the airbrush.  I look forward to seeing how that Astorath turns out.

Old School Terminator finished this Tervigon conversion using the new Arachnarok model from the Orcs & Goblins range.

Roman gives us a tutorial on how he painted this amazing bust, titled "Supreme Intelligence."  Fantastic.

Also from Roman, a tutorial about how to use crackle medium with your models.

Painting Mum gives us a massive tutorial on how she painted the Verthandi Burning Ice model.

Dave_G from Wargaming Tradecraft has set up a Network page as a resource to blog readers and blog authors.  It helps blog readers quickly find a lot of blogs and see at a glance what each blog focuses on.  I've added a link to the network on the top left of this blog.

Finished Blood Angels Librarian Dreadnought

I just finished this Librarian Dreadnought as part of the GP South's collection of Blood Angels miniatures.  It was a bit of a rush job, so I didn't get any WIP pics.  The weathering was done by sponging on Charadon Granite, as instructed by Grey_Death at The Painting Corps.  The sponging worked pretty well in some areas (the arms), and not as well in other areas (the legs).  Click on the pictures for a larger view.  Questions and comments are welcome.
